Family portrait session (Tracey, Chris, O, & J) – Winchester, MA

The last time I had the pleasure of photographing this fab foursome, baby J was days old and the fog of newborn-hood was still fresh as they were finding their way with a new little one in the family. I can still remember sweet O twirling in her dress as her mama sat in awe of how big she seemed all of a sudden while snuggling with baby J, equally in awe of how tiny she was. To see these sisters now – sharing a hug, running side by side, and laughing with their dad – is such a privilege.

Tracey and Chris, thank you for trusting me again to capture your beautiful girls, their smiles, their love for each other and for you.

Family portrait session (Colleen, Mike, V, & F) – Melrose, MA

They were smiling and chuckling as they were fiddling with the stroller/car seat, trying to figure out what mode of transport would be best for their littlest one. Big sister was happy and clearly proud of her new role in the family, taking on the older and wiser position gracefully and dutifully. At one point, she even showed off her strong muscles, holding (squeezing?) her baby sister while standing up. Both girls are undeniably adorable. They are both undeniably oblivious to the stress that comes while waiting for their house renovations to be finished, all the while living temporarily with Mike’s mom and her husband. There is a nod of appreciation of how helpful the extra hands are with a new baby, but still, house renovations are SUPER stressful. Soon enough, though, it will all be part of the story of their family: Remember that time we stayed in Melrose while our house was being done?!?

Colleen and Mike, you’re juggling SO much – new baby, new house, new town. Be sure to give yourselves a pat on the back every once in a while; these girls are amazing and they are clearly loved. That’s the part of the story they’ll remember most. Thanks so much for trusting me year after year to capture a slice of your life. Remember our first session in Boston years ago? Check out two of my faves of sweet V at the bottom.

Throwback photos:

Extended family portrait session – Brookline, MA

It was her birthday, the big-time, full-hand, 5-year-old birthday. She arrived on the scene riding her scooter, along with her little brother, also on his scooter donning a much-loved helmet (that took a little distraction to have him take it off). Then the cousins arrived along with their grandmother, aunt, and uncle. All was good and fun until she fell on a super prickly, opened up, acorn-like thing (there were lots on the ground – what are they?). Mom with the bandaid to the rescue along with ditching the ripped and bloodied tights. And then she recovered, with the help of her parents, brother, cousins, aunt, uncle, and grandmother – they provided more fun, distraction, and, oh yeah, cake!

All the kiddos decided that their favorite thing at this particular moment was to be swung around and around – and around. Then they decided that they wanted to fly. Yup. It very well might be that the parents got dizzier and more tired than the kids, but it seemed all had fun. Thanks so much to all for sharing your special day!

Family portrait session (Gail, Allan, E, & E) – Danvers, MA

The foliage has been amazing this year! This family got to take a morning to take in all of the colors and crisp air as we walked around the park and chatted about how school was going and how sometimes (all the time?) life can be busy with two kiddos. Big sister takes dance and had just performed at the Topsfield Fair, tickled about how strange it was that they had to change in a kitchen! And little sister plays soccer so their weekends are full. I know the routine of it all – the cleats, leotards, uniforms, costumes, snacks, water bottles, change of clothes, and *energy* that gets packed into all of these activities is exhausting and fun and memory-making and smile-producing – and it’s all worth it.

Gail and Allan, thanks so much for spending the beautiful morning with me! So nice to see you all again.

Family portrait session (Jess, John, A, & C) – Danvers, MA

It felt like a quintessential New England fall afternoon when I met up with this fab family. The leaves were falling, there was a little crisp in the air, and the boys were loving running around and checking out the park. These brothers seemed to get along swimmingly (all the time, right, John and Jess?)! With big brother starting middle school this year and the little brother chomping at the bit to start kindergarten next year, they are keeping their parents busy in different ways. One things is for sure the same, though – their love of silliness and each other.

Thank you, John and Jess, for the chance to photograph your handsome and fun boys!
