Newborn session (Meghan, Dan, E, and H) – Stoneham, MA

Sweet little baby brother came into the world just days before they celebrated Christmas. While the excitement of the holiday was lost on him, his older sister seemed to have gotten into the spirit of the holiday: she learned how to turn the tree lights on and off with a remote, read some Christmas stories with her parents, and, most importantly, knew where to find the chocolate goodies. Something tells me that soon enough, she and her brother will be sneaking around their house, looking for the stash of gifts hidden by their parents.

Congrats, Meghan and Dan, on your beautiful baby boy!

Family portrait session (Tara, Joe, C, R, and A) – Winchester, MA

With the cold weather clearly staking its territory, we made fairly quick work of this session and kept the girls moving around the farm. The twins, who were once each less than 6 pounds, are now bubbling 4-year-olds, keeping their parents on the go most of the time. And big sister, who is seemingly too mature for my silly jokes anymore, maintains her curiosity about the world while trying to keep her sisters in line, too.

Tara and Joe, it sounds like you’ve had – and will continue to have – some busy weeks ahead of you, but I’m so glad that we were able to make this session work! I can’t believe it’s been five years since our first shoot (check out the throwback at the bottom of this post) when C was on the verge of becoming a big sister.

Family portrait session (Christen, Steve, L, and N) – Lincoln, MA

When she sent the text confirming that we were on for Sunday, I literally laughed out loud at her hashtag, #stephaniegoryldiehard. After needing an earlier weather reschedule, we squeezed in this session hours before the massive snowstorm moved into the area. And they were troopers, allowing their layers to keep them warm while walking and running around the park.

Christen and Steve, it’s always so lovely seeing you all. I can’t thank you enough for all of the loyalty over the past NINE (!) years. For kicks, check out the throwback photo at the end of this post from 2011. Holy smokes.

Extended family portraits – Winchester, MA

Three turkeys, an outside tent/table for overflow, rented chairs, a Turkey Trot, a college hockey game, and two human pyramids – all with 27 family members from near and far (AZ, OR, IL, WV, FL, LA, and MA). The day after Thanksgiving offered just the right window of time to gather for some large family portraits followed by one of the best parts of Thanksgiving: the leftovers. The unexpected part was the apparent tradition of human pyramids. The even more unexpected part was that this wasn’t just the young generation having fun, doing their young-person thing. After the kiddos completed their feat, the adults took over the floor and mastered the same thing, tossing “I’ve-got-a-bad-back” complaints aside.

What a fun crew! It’s amazing that all of you can gather each year; what a testament to your family.

Family portrait session (Haley, Alex, P, and S) – Boston, MA

Here’s to cozy jammy-jams and snuggles! So fun that this awesome family went with the flow of the day and cold weather – the girls got to hang in their pjs and then we bundled up for a bit and walked to a couple of spots in the city against the nap clock for the littlest one. These sweet sisters were a joy from start to finish.

Haley and Alex, thank you so much for sharing your chilly morning with me. So nice to meet you all!
