Family portrait session (Laura, Shawn, Z, and A) – North Andover, MA

It’s the calm before the storm, this time right before school starts. Vacations come to a close, summer fun takes a back seat to a busier schedule, and the school supplies are all organized and set, packed away in backpacks. It was the perfect time to take some family portraits for this crew. Laura had been the winning bidder at an auction in the fall and, after a couple of weather related postponements, we ended up with a beautiful evening.

Laura and Shawn, thanks so much for sharing your evening and your sweet kids with me!

Mini-documentary session – York, ME

If the walls of this house could talk, it would speak of the two little girls who grew up there, their shared memories of running on the expansive lawn, the family gatherings, the original low ceiling in the kitchen, the beautiful piano music that echoed through the halls, the renovations that it endured, the families of birds that were lovingly fed by the multiple feeders outside, the abundance of flowers that have been nurtured over the years, and the two parents who cared so well for the house and those that resided within it. Before they close the door on this house (it’s on the market!), they wanted to capture some memories of a morning there with the whole family. Then, to add in some more fun, we went to the older daughter’s house just one street away where all the cousins were able to entertain themselves with whatever they could find for fun: pick blueberries, swing on the swings, mountain bike on a custom-made trail, explore the log cabin fort, and oh yeah, play in the pool, too!

While this family is closing the chapter on their time in this amazing house, their adventures carry on. Marty and Bill, congratulations on a job well done of taking such good care of this well-loved, well-lived-in home. And even more than that, congrats on such an amazing, happy, and beautiful family.

Family portrait session (Kendra, Glenn, & B) – Wellesley, MA

Kendra and Glenn’s alarm clock has collected a lot of dust since baby B arrived about a year ago and decided to be a morning person. But that seems to matter little to them as they are so adoring and loving of every little inch of him. And they are about to understand that even with all of that love, their hearts will somehow grow even bigger as baby #2 is due this fall and baby B will become a big brother. But for now, he couldn’t be happier swinging, crawling, and pushing his little red Radio Flyer.

Kendra and Glenn, thank you for sharing your morning with me and congrats on making it through the first year! Wishing you lots of hand-holding, snuggling, and child-proofing success in the coming weeks/months as you prepare for your new arrival.

Extended family session (Tom, Michelle, N, & A) – Acton, MA

There is a look of pride and happiness on Tom’s face as I pull up in the driveway. It’s the face that ran so many class meetings back in high school, the face that was forever optimistic about whatever challenges would come our way – whether we were trying to convince the school administration to change something or planning the junior prom. But today, his face is happy for other reasons, grown-up reasons. His oldest son is sitting next to him on the porch steps while inside, his beautiful wife, Michelle, holds their newborn son. In addition, his dad is on the way to join us at the house and Michelle’s parents are also here, visiting all the way from the other side of the world. It’s such a special time in their lives and here they are surrounded by those who know and appreciate the beauty (and sometimes chaos) of it all.

Tom and Michelle, congratulations on another adorable son! My heart is full seeing you all together.

Newborn session (Danielle, Patrick, C, & R) – Wakefield, MA

With the arrival of baby R, her big sister seems to have fallen easily into her new role – she helped to brush her hair, helped to change a diaper, and seems poised to teach her a whole host of important things about the world. After all, she already knows how to climb up her ever-so-tall daddy and how to request mac and cheese for lunch. What else is there? Baby sister couldn’t be cuter and even had a couple of smiles for us. Such a beautiful and sweet family right in my neighborhood!

Congratulations again, Danielle and Patrick. Wishing you lots of sleep and snuggles in the coming months.
