A journey for a brave boy and his family – Arlington, MA

Do you ever have those moments when all you want to do is hug, kiss, and squeeze your little ones as tight as you possibly can with every fiber of your being? Of course I hug and smooch my girls all the time, but there have been times when the deepest part of my soul can think of nothing else. This is what I feel like when I think about what this family has been through. A little over a year ago, sweet M was about 19 months old and was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Needless to say that ever since, this brave boy, his big sister, and his wonderful parents have been through the ringer: chemo, surgery, stem cell transplant, proton radiation, antibody therapy, and countless medications. I kept tabs on M’s progress through a friend and just this month, Heather finally felt able to take me up on the offer for a family photo session. M has just finished the bulk of his treatment. What follows now is a number of scans to take a look at how he’s doing but they are just starting to feel *some* sense of a return to a new normal. I simply cannot imagine all that this family has endured.

Thank you, Heather and Jacque, for allowing me to capture M and L’s resilient spirits, their playfulness, and their little personalities. I truly, truly enjoyed meeting your awesome children and wish nothing but the best for you all from this point on. What an amazing job you have done to battle such an injustice. Here’s to happy days ahead. Big, BIG hugs.
