Family portrait session (Sinem, Rasim, A, & A) – Gloucester, MA

The wind, the sand, the sun, and the water all provided for some awesome elements for this session with this fun family. I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family during the past 5 years – all the way back to when big brother was SO little (back before I even had an official website!). He’s now a handsome little boy who clearly loves his little sister. Speaking of the little sister – check out how stunning she is with the wind in her hair and a twirl in her skirt! What a lovely evening to spend at the beach (even though we were watching the radar for scattered showers).

Thanks so much, Sinem and Rasim, for the chance to photograph you and your kiddos again. I hope these images will make their way onto the walls of your new home and will bring you smiles for years to come!

Extended family portrait session with the F family – Lincoln, MA

40 years of marriage, 3 grown children, each with a spouse, and 5 adorable grandchildren. This handsome family gathered together to celebrate the long-lasting marriage and mark the occasion with some family portraits. With 5 grandkids ranging in age from 5-years to 3-months old, we had some fun trying to corral them all for a kids photo! The oldest made a great assistant, though, when it came time to making her grandparents smile for a photo. The bubbles at the end were a hit with everyone, except for the baby who was well tuckered out by all the excitement of the morning.

Thanks to all of you for a fun morning! And congratulations to you, Pat and Lloyd, on a marriage and family full of love.

Day in the Life (Amy, Aaron, C, & J) – Rye, NH

Little J wakes up and goes in for a snuggle while he clears the cobwebs. His legs are dotted with mosquito bites and the kind of bruises you get when you’re climbing and running everywhere – a sure sign of some good summer fun. While he and his mom play a bit, dad works on breakfast. And slowly, but surely, sweet C wakes up to start her day with hair in her pretty face and a spirit that would make anyone smile. As with most Saturday mornings, they head to the local farmers’ market and bend the rules a bit to splurge on a frozen treat (in the morning!) to cool them off on this toasty summer day. The day’s fun is just beginning as they will also visit the playground and head to the beach in the afternoon.

I can say with all honesty that I’ve never seen anyone try to build a sandcastle while the tide is coming in and waves are actually splashing on said castle. C kept adding more and more sand with such fervor that I couldn’t help but wish the tide would retreat just for her. Her dad was her strongest supporter, supplying the sand as fast as it was being washed away. This is perseverance.

I couldn’t feel more humbled being there to witness this day with this family – in its entirety. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Amy and Aaron. I thoroughly enjoyed documenting your beautiful family.

Check out the slideshow for a snapshot of the day as well as some of my favorites images highlighted below.

Extended family portrait session with the S family – Ogunquit, ME

It’s not too often when you can gather multi-generations spanning 5-months to 95-years old. So when it happens, it makes sense to mark the occasion with some portraits. The last time I was able to do this for this family, it was three years ago when grandchild #3 was the size of a kidney bean and news of the pregnancy hadn’t yet reached outside the immediate family. Now, not only is grandchild #3 a running-around-toddler, but grandchild #4 is here and has the distinct pleasure of enjoying being a part of this wonderful family. We had a little trouble wrangling one of them for a cousins photo, but I have a feeling that the image we did get will live on in stories for years to come (be sure to check it out below).

Kristan (the gorgeous red-head) is a dear, dear friend of mine and seeing her and her husband here with their family is always a joy. Thank you, Kristan, Adam, Ed, Jess, Brian, and lovely Sylvia, for entrusting me to capture the beautiful faces and personalities that make up your family’s heart.

Extended family portrait with the T family – Kennebunkport, ME

The coast of Maine is beautiful, especially if you have a house that sits upon some cliffs overlooking the ocean. This scene was made even more beautiful by the gathering of family. This house belonged to Katie’s grandparents and it has remained in the family through the years. It is a house that is warm and welcoming and, as Katie’s parents reported, has served as home to a Labor Day homemade pie contest for years. On this day, Katie and Jon were there with their daughter and both sets of grandparents, playing some bocce, checking out the seals that come into the harbor, and enjoying some cold treats and tasty beverages.

Sweet C was a good explorer, looking for sea glass and rock treasures. She also tried her hand at bocce, did some mega-jumps from the deck (with the best expressions in the world), and cooled down with a refreshing popsicle (which she rested directly on the deck when she needed a break). Thank you all for a fun evening and for sharing your gorgeous view. Should you ever want your pie contest photographed, you know where to find me (also, I *could* be arm-twisted into being a judge instead).
