Family portrait session (Sarah, Dave, E, R, & H) – Lincoln, MA

With only weeks left before Christmas, Sarah wanted to keep our session for the morning even though the weather looked grim so that perhaps they could get a photo for their holiday card. The thick fog gave us a pretty dramatic backdrop. Their three boys, each with long, fast legs, seemed all too happy to run and race each other (much more so than to stand for a photo!). We explored a bit along the trail and back, chatting about sports and school.

Sarah and Dave, thanks so much for making the last minute session work even with the iffy weather! So nice to meet you all.

Family portrait session (Colleen, Mike, & V) – Boston, MA

I can’t even stand how wonderfully sweet this little face is. This little face. This little, cute, adorable, and angel-like face knew exactly what she wanted to do on this chilly November morning! She wanted to walk by herself, without holding anyone’s hand. She wanted to open the store door that was still locked from the night before. She wanted to swing, but only in the swing on the right, not the one on the left. She wanted to walk on the edge of the park, again, without holding anyone’s hands. And, when we were back inside where it was toasty warm, she wanted a cookie. The family dog also knew what she wanted – the same cookie, or at least cookie crumbs licked off of that little aforementioned adorable face.

Colleen and Mike, your little one put a smile on my face the whole ride home. She is completely her own person, and I love that (you just might need an extra cup of coffee in the mornings to keep up – whew!). Thanks for a fun little walk around your neighborhood.

Family portrait session (Oliver, Julie, I, & L) – Newton, MA

Big brother seemed perfectly content to dig a hole in the back yard while his little counterpart couldn’t stay out of the pile of leaves to save his life. Tall and handsome, big brother showed off his climbing and jumping skills. And little brother couldn’t resist breaking out his Captain America shield to help him out against his dad. These two cuties seemed to have adjusted well to their lovely new home, with the little one quite excited to show me the newly finished basement. We’ve known Oliver and Julie for years now, even going to their sweet wedding in New Orleans, and it’s so heart warming to see them enjoying life with their boys.

Thanks so much, O and Julie, for the chance to photograph you in your new home. I love the smiles that you all share together!

Family portrait session (Shilpa, Jim, E, & A) – Arlington, MA

Little sister inched closer to the water and with every step, big sister called out a word of caution to warn her not to get too close, acting as any good (third) parent would do. Little sister wasn’t too worried, though, she was just exercising her independence as any 1-year-old would. The two girls followed each other around the park, in awe of the dozen dogs that were out for their morning playtime. Little sister’s eyes had a way of catching the light just so. And, just as big sister was taking a break on a bench, unbeknownst to her, one single leaf fell silently above her head.

Shilpa and Jim, thanks so much for sharing your morning with me. Your girls are precious!

Family portrait session (Nicole, Keith, N, & E) – Hopkinton, MA

Full disclaimer: These folks are family and I think they are pretty cute and fun. The little one didn’t think the cold was so fun but that all seemed to disappear when he found all of the leaves that were just begging to be thrown up in the air. We were on a hunt for a little pond but it seemed that we couldn’t quite get there from where we were without traversing a long stretch of park. But we made the best of it with the cool, crisp air and some giggles mixed in here and there. While we were a little disappointed with our failed mission to find the water, I’ll take leaf-throwing any day. I’ll never get tired of seeing leaves being tossed in the air. And these faces paired with it? The best!

Thanks, Keith and Nicole, for making the trek so early in the morning! Loved seeing your faces, too, of course.
