Newborn session (Inga, Jeff, N, & L) – Salem, MA

He kept his eyes closed for 95% of the session: he slept through some family portraits, slept through his big brother holding his little head, slept as he ate, and even kept his eyes closed as he cried. Just as I was starting to pack up, he peeked through to say hello to his sweet family. It was the first time his grandmother saw his eyes, still a little bloodshot from when he entered the world a mere 4 days before. What a little love bug! Welcome to the world, baby L. You look so much like your older brother did when he was born! Big brother seemed to love touching your sweet head. Can’t say I blame him.

Thank you, Jeff and Inga, for the chance to photograph your growing family! Wishing you countless snuggles, some sleep, and lots of joy.

Documentary morning session (Jess, Russ, B, & C) – Newton, MA

Wafts of bacon filled the kitchen as the boys gathered at the table, clearly excited for their homemade waffles – or rather, the maple syrup that covered said waffles. C actually proved that he didn’t need the catalyst for the syrup at all; he just lapped it up off the plate enjoying every last drop! Big brother B gave me a lesson in the alternative way to tie shoes (the two-bunny-ears approach) before we all headed outside to enjoy the nice weather. Their morning continued with some family portraits in the back yard, with a random sword fight or two here and there for good measure. B showed off some expert stone-skipping at the nearby lake while C did some exploring, ever excited to find a plastic worm left over by a fisherman. The morning was capped off with a bubble-blowing session with mom and B.

Jess and Russ – thank you so much for allowing your morning to unfold before me. I love your boys’ sense of adventure!

Family portrait session (Tara, Joe, C, R, & A) – Newton, MA

A little over a year ago, these twins could snuggle together in their mom’s arms. And now they are on the verge of walking and the ability to carry both of them at the same time is nearly over. Baby R seemed to smile at everything while baby A seemed to be a bit more hesitant but both were as cute as could be. Big sister C couldn’t have been sweeter – at one point C wanted to cheer up one of her crying sisters so much that she herself started getting sad when it wasn’t working.

Tara and Joe, what an adorable little crew you have there. Thanks so much for having me; it was wonderful to see how much they’ve grown in a year!

Newborn session (Adina, Noah, A, C, & E) – Sudbury, MA

They’ve lived in their new house for less than a year but it’s already filled with images of the two oldest boys – the pictures line the stairs, there are photo albums on the coffee table, and large images hang in the living room. Now, they’ll have photos of their newest son to add to their beautiful wall art. Sweet E had a slightly early arrival into this lovely family and seems pretty comfortable in this beautiful home. When he woke up from his snooze, he was so chill – no crying, no fussing, no startling. He just lay there checking things out with eyes wide open. Complete melt-your-heart-material. His two older brothers seem to be adjusting slowly to this new little being, all the while maintaining their silliness factor, of course.

Adina and Noah, wishing you and your handsome trio lots of giggles and snuggles together in the coming weeks and months. Oh, and that ever important, highly-sought-after thing called sleep.

Morning documentary session (Rebecca, Owen, H, & M) – Southborough, MA

Having two little kiddos means having a bottle and a sippy cup at the ready at any given time. It means the younger one gets exposed to characters (i.e. Star Wars) way earlier than the first one did. Having two little kiddos means completing a puzzle with the older one (who aptly points out the age requirement printed on the box to his younger sibling) and then act as a referee when the baby goes after it and wants to tear it apart. It means giving the baby an age-appropriate snack, like banana crackers, and having the older one want the same thing.

Between the giggle-filled-book-reading, Star-Wars-helmet-donning, puzzle-making, train-playing, stuffed-animal-snuggling, and cracker-snacking, this sweet family of four enjoyed their morning with one another. Rebecca and Owen, thanks so much for allowing the morning to flow naturally and letting me capture all the wonderful dynamics that unfold in the span of an hour. What a fun little morning!
