Wondrous one – Wakefield, MA

Oh, the first year of life. There’s SO much change. There’s so much to see and learn. And as a parent, there’s SO much love. So much fun. And, for a while at least, so little sleep. Happy birthday to you, sweet C, and congratulations to your adoring parents for having made it to such a wondrous milestone! While it was a chilly morning, this little bug did just fine exploring the leaves, checking out the lake, and walking hand-in-hand with her parents. She’s super-eager to get those two legs working to motor around on her own! Watch out, Matt and Kathy, she might not stop once she starts! Thanks for a fun session; it was kind of a trip down memory lane for me since my oldest daughter’s birthday is just days away from hers. Can’t wait to see her running around the ‘hood!

Lots o’ leaves – Southborough, MA

Little miss O seemed to love the leaves as much as I do. I can’t resist walking through a pile of leaves and dragging my feet so that I can hear the rustle of the colors beneath my feet. Handsome N seemed a little more reluctant, not quite sure what the big deal was all about. We were SO lucky to sneak this session in as there was a wall of rain that inched toward us minute by minute. We had to cut it a bit short but we certainly had a blast while we stayed dry at this gorgeous farm. Christen and Steve, glad we were able to dodge the storm and make it work! These kids have had my heart ever since I met them three years ago. Love their spunky and independent personalities!

The allure of giant rocks – Wakefield, MA

Giant rocks just seem like they are beckoning to be conquered, don’t they? Big brother would climb, get to the top, and bust out his best, “let’s see your muscles” pose, and then, just as quickly, he would descend and continue his search for the next boulder calling his name. He seemed completely at ease telling me about his typical day at kindergarten, who his teachers were, and the friends he had there. And though she did try to keep up with him, little sister, M, also showed that she has a mind of her own. When she decided to go the opposite direction from the rest of the family, she stuck to her guns despite the, “OK, you go that way but we’re going this way, see you later” game that Heather tried to play. We spent the better part of our session in search of a massive tree that had fallen down thus exposing it’s roots (as told to us by one seemingly wise passer-by). Unfortunately, we never did find the tree, but we certainly had fun on the journey. Heather and Scott, thank you for a lovely little morning in our wonderful local reservation area. Your kids rock (get it?)!

Playtime at the Mill – Sudbury, MA

Oldest of three, C arrived tightly holding onto “Bunny.” Her parents reminded me, “she takes a little while to warm up.” And she did, but once she came out of her shell a bit, she seemed to relish in the beautiful grounds at this old grist mill. Her brother, with amazing, jealousy-making, bouncy locks, followed suit, running and chasing, exploring and observing everything he could. And, not to be outdone, their baby sister sat with big, wide eyes, and made my heart melt. I loved the giggles between the older two as we found a secret door and walked over a neat little bridge. I loved the adoration they showed for their littlest one. And I loved being able to see them all again outside of the newborn fog from our last session. What a great morning, Cassandra and Brian! Thanks so much for a ton of fun.

Dodging rain – Reading, MA

Ahh, New England. The weather has been so strange lately (but when I stop to think about it, I feel like I say this often enough that it probably ISN’T really true). A number of outdoor sessions have had to be rescheduled lately due to some rainy weekends. For this session with twins, B and N, and their parents, Naomi and Matt, we made the best of the time we had outside without rain and then had some more fun indoors. I loved Naomi and Matt’s laid back approach to it all. I suppose it comes with the territory of having twins: needing to roll with it as much as possible just to get through parts of the day. But indoors, dare I say it, we had perhaps even more fun than we did outside. B and N have these amazing little personalities which seemed to emerge a bit more amidst their toys and snacks. B is super-chill, happy to shake a container of herbs, and will flash a devilish grin when he knows he’s getting into trouble. Sweet, sensitive N takes everything in and is not afraid to show how she feels about it, for better or worse, especially when it comes to her snacks and pacifier (see the tearful photos below!). Thanks, Naomi and Matt, for rolling with the rain! Great to see you all again!
